New Doros Slave Auction, Friday July 3rd.
« on: June 27, 2009, 06:37:21 AM »
*A holo video of Mayor Sowisp Blush moves into focus.  She is wearing a plain but well kept dress*

Greetings, citizens of the great city of New Doros.  I hope this message finds you in good health.  At this time, the mayor's office would like to announce a slave auction that will take place next friday ((7pm central)).  Proceeds from this event will go towards expanding the local security force.  The exact location in the city has yet to be finalized, but we are most likely going to be using the same stage that is utilized for testing combat skills.  I would encourage all residents to stop by for an evening of entertainment and fun, regardless of interest in buying said slaves.  As always, our friends that do not live in our great city are welcome as well.  Any questions regarding this even can be sent to city hall  ((send me an email)).

((OK, now for the ooc red tape part...  Real credits will be traded, not pretend.  This is for two reasons.  First, finding people to RP being a slave is hard and they deserve something for the effort.  Secondly, New Doros is about accurate RP and expecting to have to spend real money will keep the price realistic, meaning we wont get some noob bidding 10 billion credits.

If you win a slave, they are yours for the weekend, with the exception of Pi-ca, whom I am told is willing to enter into a long term arrangement.  Specific times and such to be worked out with said slave.  There is also an understanding that there will be no cyborz with the slave, forced or otherwise.  Any attempt voids the contract and stops the RP.  With this in mind, New Doros reserves the right to ask people to leave oocly for excessive behavior issues.

If you are one of those nasty jedi or terrorist types (lol), yes, slaves can be freed.  Please keep in mind that some individuals want to RP being a slave and oocly do not want to be freed.  If it is your intention to buy a slave so you can free her, or try some evil terrorist thing to free a slave, please consult with that slave oocly first, as we do not want to hurt anyone's rp.

The slave auction will be run by Aak.  We are also hoping to get DOSH involved in this as well, so if your in DOSH and listening, please contact Aak and/or myself oocly with your ideas.

If you would like to be a slave yourself, or roll an alt and be willing to commit to that toon for the weekend, please contact Aak directly

This will be udated, but as of right now, slaves to be auctioned are as follows:

Pi-ca (weekend only)
Arynne (weekend only)
Sophiiaa (weekend only)
Payten (weekend only)
Ni'ka (weekend only)
Okowi (weekend and maybe monday)
'Reain' (weekend only)
Cskarr / wookie (weekend only)

Last but not least, the city of New Doros is looking for full or part time security officers.  We offer tons of RP and your ic interests do not overly matter.  If you are loyal to the empire, it will make life easier for the mayor and governor.  If you are one of those jedi or terrorist types, you wont be alone as there are others involved with your views in order to do all their evil rebellious terrorism stuff (lol).  Anyway, if you are interested in helping with New Doros security, please contact Anelo icly.))

Two questions.

First, does a Talusian slave auction (Or really, a slave auction in any part of the Corellian Sector) seem really weird to anyone else?

Second: To whom do the "real credits, not pretend" go?  Aak is running the auction, we have a list of people who will be participating in the auction, but it wasn't made clear if Aak, the slave, or New Doros gets the proceeds from this.

Thank you.

I would assume at least in part to the slave themselves with the rest taken for the Aak/other people involved. Confirmation Sowisp?

You would be correct.  All of the money will go to Aak and the slaves.  New Doros was offered a cut but I turned it down.  Our payment will be RP in the city.

I covered the credit thing in my above post, but as for the wierdness of doing the slave thing on talus, yea, you are completely correct.  According to EU, its a bit of a stretch.  On the other hand, so is all the jedi, sith, and mando running around, among other things.  We are not star wars exactly.  In some ways I wish we were, but we are not.  Instead of focusing on the specific event, try to focus on this as a chance for a lot of people to get together to RP in a realistic urban enviornment, with a lot of people around, like it would be if you took a trip to a real life major city, like New York or Chicago.  Lets be honest, how long will it take to auction off a few slaves?  Probably less than an hour.  The real fun will be the pre and post rp that is created by everyone who attends.  If this goes the way I expect it, we will have maybe a one hour event and tons of RP after that last the entire night.  Please come by and give it a try

Or another way of looking at it... of course it's wrong. It's an outrage, inflicted on talus by those horrible imperials. :P

looks like fun.

((CAERIEEEEEE!!!!!  <3

Sowisp, has totally been corrupted I see, lol. Aak gets a <3 too for being such a good evil slaver. If at all possible, I will find a way to be there on at least one of my toons. Might even bid on one, my chef needs a hunter.

I'd suggest you have a place to 'display' the slaves (like cages or something, inside if not outside) so the prospective buyers can ICly examine them, and OOCly talk to them to see what their skills are and what they want to get out of the RP. This would let the white knights find the ones who are willing to be freed and the ones who want a mechanic, or a hunter to know which ones to bid on.

Looking forward to this, and yes, slave auction on Talus is totally 'wrong' that's what makes it so good. lol))

I am pleased to have raised your... spirits... today, Sir: Tadinan

( Hard for me to come. Axov is likely to be threatened with death if he comes without a force of mandalorian bodyguards, and Gillan would try and have it shut down.  :P)

Kierath has accepted the awsome responsibility of designing the set for this.  We have shared our ideas already and, based on our discussion, I am confident that the design will be epic.  Your pre-auction inspection area will definately be included.

If I'm free that day, I'll be sure to add my usual gadfly-ness to these proceedings :9.

(not my event, but I'd suggest a bid cap of some kind to keep the playing field level, there's a lot of sticky issues with people who have ridonculous amounts of IG money, but don't RP having such a cash flow or vice versa).
