- Summer Festival is a holiday commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues,picnics, and other public and private events celebrating the change of season. The holiday celebrations often take place outdoors with a picnic or barbecue to take advantage of the long weekend. Decorations generally are colored red, white, and blue. Parades are often held in the morning while fireworks displays are held in public parks in the evening and are accompanied by musical bands and other entertainers.
During the Summer Festival, outdoor barbecues are held that generally involve the grilling of exceptionally juicy boarburgers and delicious hot slice hounds; while picnics are commonly held in parks or at the beach while waiting for the fireworks display picnics do not involve the cooking of meats but the lucky attendees can feast on classic favorites such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and blowfish salad. The traditional side dishes for a picnic or barbecue include Corellian potato salad, potato chips, vegetable tray, Jabbas Jello salad, and perhaps Corellian baked beans or corn on the cob.
